Tani Elliott, a graduate student in UC Berkeley’s City and Regional Planning Department, has produced the results of a survey summing up the neighborhood character of the Inner Sunset. Working with a group of interested neighbors, a survey was developed and sent out to 1,000 randomly selected households. The survey collected people’s feelings and attitudes about housing, transit, parking, biking, parks and community space, our commercial district and sense of community. View the report here.
A group of neighbors are now looking on how to use this data moving forward. The ideal would to be create an Inner Sunset Plan much like Supervisor Katy Tang’s office created the “Sunset District Blueprint” Leaders of the Inner Sunset hope that Ms Elliot’s survey can be the first step in creating an Inner Sunset version like Tang’s district blueprint which addresses pressing needs in her neighborhood, including housing, children, families and seniors, public transit and pedestrian safety, economic development, and public safety.
