The Inner Sunset apparently has some secret admirers who are visiting to take substantial cuttings from the private gardens many of us enjoy cultivating to add to the beauty of our neighborhood. We’re not talking about small, hardly-noticed pieces; this involves taking entire plant-filled pots, digging up plants that are flowering, or taking huge pieces of succulents and leaving gaping holes in what remains.
A few friends have mentioned that this happened to them, and we just realized that we’ve also been hit. It appears the act was fairly well thought out: whoever took the chunks of plant obviously brought a good set of pruning shears, and pieces of plant strewn on the sidewalk suggest that whoever did it came by car, parked long enough to take what they wanted, and then left unnoticed.
Hope anyone spotting this sort of action will help us make it clear to those involved that we really do value what we’re building together…or maybe we can just put out the word that if people really are having trouble finding plants they admire, they can approach us for small, free cuttings so everyone wins.
