News from London Breed’s Office: More Space on Muni Trains :
On May 14th, I was happy to ride on the inaugural run of an N Judah Muni train that is re-configured to allow more room for passengers. I worked with Supervisor Wiener to push for a new seat layout on Muni trains that creates more space and reduces the delays caused by full trains.
The N Judah carries over 40,000 passengers every day, and all too often the trains are full. We are in the process of buying over 200 new trains, and I am pushing for that to happen as quickly as possible. However in the meantime, we must make the most of what we have. Our new seat layout will allow at least ten more passengers on board each car. This means when a two-car train pulls up at Carl and Cole for the N or Market and Church for the J, 20 more people will be able to board, making Muni more accessible and efficient. The first train is a pilot project.
