Join your neighbors on Sunday, December 11th for two events, both at the County Fair Building (just inside the Golden Gate Park at 9th Avenue and Lincoln). Sunset Mercantile will be hosting a holiday event which will include arts, crafts and antique gifts as well as beer and wine tasting. There will also be a non-profit area as well as the popular ISS giant toys. Angela Petit-Taylor, a local merchant, had partnered with ISPN to produce the Inner Sunset Sunday Flea Market this past September is producing this event with her business partner Laura Peschke-Zingle. Petit-Taylor’s ability to connect local merchants to community events has been a wonderful addition to the neighborhood. She started hosting events in the Outer Sunset and now bring her talents to the Inner Sunset. Her events often feature a “merchant hop” that encourages people to visit shops that do not have a physical presence at the fair. The Sunset Holiday Mercantile will run from 11-4 and then neighbors are encouraged to continue on to the Holiday Party, co-sponsored by ISPN and ISMA. The party will feature free food from many of the local restaurants and businesses in the Inner Sunset. ISPN Board members, Chris Duderstadt and Craig Dawson are excited to bring back the popular event after a long break. They ask business owners to staff their table as a way to meet their neighbors. “The last time we hosted this event, one restaurant got a huge catering order the next day.” reports Duderstadt. Last year’s December’s Inner Sunset Sunday, “Santastic” was rained out. “Moving the event inside seemed like a better way to go” says Martha Ehrenfeld, ISPN’s current president. “And of course we encouraging everyone to wear their flashiest holiday sweater!”
